June 16, 2006 An evening of art, wine and music
GUESTS were treated to an evening of exquisite Italian wine, art and music at the launch of “L'Automne” collection by Lavinia Burcea recently. The art exhibition was held at The Attic, Kuala Lumpur, which had recently commenced business as an art gallery within a piano bar, chill out lounge and cafe. Created to provide a unique venue for the art, design and lifestyle-centric community in Klang Valley, The Attic will host monthly art exhibitions and regular musical performances.
Burcea's “L'Automne” collection featured a series of 16 paintings depicting her favourite season - autumn. Her inclination toward natural themes was a result of her childhood in Romania and the time spent at her family's farm and vineyard. “Autumn is mysterious and magical. It is a season for romance,” said Burcea. “I used a lot of red, orange and yellow to capture the essence of autumn landscapes. “The golds symbolise the magical quality of power and prosperity of the season,” she added. One of Burcea's paintings, titled ”Autumn Scent,” was influenced by the density and spontaneity of weather change during autumn. Her “Vineyard Series” depicted the rich hues of autumn in the vineyard. Burcea will donate 10% of sales proceeds to Angels Children’s Home in Kuala Lumpur, as well as hold an art practice session with the home's children. The exhibition ends on June 30.
